Sure, John Phifer Marrs is a noted designer. But he’s also our friend, and we like his stories. Today, he tells us about getting to hang out with Alexa Hampton at an ASID meeting.  Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of hearing the fabulous Alexa Hampton speak at our ASID meeting hosted by Taylors on Ten. Prior to the meeting, I knew of Alexa’s reputation as a big New York designer and that she is the daughter of the late Mark Hampton. What I didn’t know: she is a delight! Her low, sultry voice had me from the beginning. (Those who know me know how I like women with low voices!) Plus, she certainly didn’t take herself sooo seriously—although in my opinion she certainly could have. The lady has two books out and many licensing agreements!

Anyway, Alexa showed photos of her own apartment, complete with a fab new master suite. She said she kept it all neutral there so that she can escape from the color and pattern in the other rooms. She added that she also has a lock on the door to keep her kids at bay. (Cut to photo of Greek husband!) She even ‘fessed up to her addiction to the BRAVO network, which I loved!  She kept us all charmed for an hour, and then even signed our books. Even better: she posed for a picture with me!
