Hello, good people. Due to some technical difficulties, we had to make our own fun on Friday. I went shopping. In related news: never underestimate the power of a new running outfit. Anyway, lucky for us, ID Collection’s Jim Williamson is happy to make our Monday merry. As you may recall from a previous post, the spouse and I are in the process of combining residence. Yes, stress caused by relocation will more than likely—almost certainly—occur. Fortunately, my BFF is on his way for a quick visit. Unbeknownst to him, he is also going to help me decide what to keep, toss, sell, or donate. I will also feed him ideas about what I want to do with the new place so he can then feed them to the spouse. In doing so, it will seem like that’s where those ideas originated—with the BFF. My friend is also bringing us some charming accessories that he found in an antiques shop in Houston.
In fact, the moment he texted some photos of those pieces, we agreed that we needed them. They are from an old house in South Carolina. My father’s side of the family hailed from South Carolina—before my great-great-grandfather made the move to Savannah. So it will be nice to have a bit of “home” in the new place.
But first I have to leave my old place. It’s a process. I leave the showroom every night to pack. In the beginning, I figured that if I filled a few boxes each night, I would be done in no time. I was wrong. With every box I pack, I take a trip down memory lane. And then that lane turns into an overseas trip made more complicated by jet-lag. I think we can all agree that for the most part, moving sucks.
But guess what doesn’t suck? The new fall collection from Designers Guild, which is arriving at the showroom practically every day. This image features some new fabric in popular colors for fall: plum and purple. The setting in this photo looks like it could be in an old Southern home —only with the new generation taking over its crusty goodness and making it fresh with fun colors.
And so with that, I leave you to concentrate on the big move. Have a great week!
