I was scouting a house for the magazine earlier this week that possessed quite possibly the loveliest room I have ever encountered in person.
It was a small space, sort of a den/man cave situation (I know “lovely man cave” is a bit of an oxymoron, but hang with me) sporting deep teal lacquered walls and a grasscloth ceiling. The lacquer was insane…pristine, glossy, almost mirror like. The room literally glowed; the reflection bouncing off the lacquer even managed to elevate the grasscloth, giving it a sort of gilded quality.
The whole scene was wholly mesmerizing.
So now I’m obsessed with this lacquered wall situation. I’ve quizzed the designers behind that glorious room and scoured the interwebs for photos of rooms with lacquered walls. (Elle Decor boasts a nice slide show, including that snap above.) I’ve even studied tutorials in the hopes that I could attempt a little DIY lacquering action (not a chance, lacquered walls are serious business).
So I’m just going to put it out into the universe à la The Secret and see what happens. Here goes. Lacquered walls are in my future.
Stay tuned.

It will be interesting to see how the lacquered walls come out. The picture is beautiful. Where did you find the tutorials you mentioned?
