A Big, Bold, Boredom Busting Mural

That nursery above is one of my top five favorite D Home rooms… It’s from a particularly fetching house in our 2011 July/August issue, and it is quite possibly the coolest nursery of all time. All the elements are spot-on, but it’s the ginormoius rendering of that Slim Aarons photo behind the crib that’s the major show stopper.

It is just awesome on so many levels.

The mural comes from Surface View, a genius company out of the UK that specializes in “ready to roll” murals that can be hung like wallpaper. And we’re not talking twee, pedestrian murals here friends… These bad boys are gasp-inducing, larger than life game changers.

Take for example this super magnified painterly situation in a bathroom featured in Homes and Gardens magazine. Major wow, yes?

Or how about this marbleized goodness from Surface View’s Victoria and Albert Museum collection (also via Homes and Garden magazine)?

There are endless options… So endless, in fact, that (fair warning), you could easily while away (or procrastinate away, if you have a looming deadline…hypothetically of course) the better part of an afternoon pouring though all of them.

Have fun.
