My husband is not so much a fan of “the shopping”. Actually let’s not mince words here, he hates to shop. So when he does happen to have a good shopping experience it’s a pretty epic deal.
One such experience was the direct result of this week’s “Thursday Tastemaker”, one Mr. E. David Goltl. Years ago he was a design consultant at Urban Home on Henderson where he helped me and the hubby pick out a dining room table. Husband walked away from the store an hour or so later (clearly we take our dining room tables very seriously) and declared, “that guy was amazing”. Oh and he was smiling. After shopping.
Suffice to say, David Goltl is my hero. In addition to his ability to make a happy shopper out of even the most resistant of peeps, he also happens to possess impeccable taste and is perhaps one of the most dapper dressers in our fair city. (The man has serious style and many, many pairs of shoes.)
For the past five-years he’s served as the studio proprietor at Design Within Reach on McKinney, and you can be rest assured I’m planning to have him work his magic on my husband in my long-running quest for some gold flatware and and an Eames chair (or two). In the meantime, let’s check in on the things inspiring him of late.
Here goes…
ICFF: held in Ney York every Spring. It is one of the several trips I take to NY. It is a great opportunity to see what’s new an upcoming in the furniture industry. I return home recharged and ready to create.
MyDeco: I use this to create interiors for my clients. But also spend time on it when I’m board (2am). Imagine being able to create or recreate your space in 3D then producing images that look like real photos. It’s that cool!
Houzz: Great iPad app. Tons of interiors spaces to pull inspiration from.
Pitti Uomo (Italy), NYFW (New York): Both of these are part of my inspiration on what I call “dressing like a grown up.” Tailored shirts, & suits, bespoke shoes? Yes please! Just cause I’m a dad, doesn’t mean I need to dress like one.
My Blog: wifeand2kids.tumblr.com
All Things Vintage: chairs, architecture, pocket squares, albums, bikes.
Leathers: the more worn in the better.
Cashmere/Wool Blends: Suits & Upholstery
Matte Black: It’s the new black!
Woods: Teaks, Walnuts are my favorites.

I shop at DWR quite often and, agreed, Goltl is one dapper gent and quite helpful.
David is a pro! And a true delight. What a wonderful choice for a D Home “Thursday Tastemaker”!
